Terms of Use
Last updated October 5, 2026
These terms apply when you use vafbmemorialruck.ca, register for the Memorial Ruck, or donate through the site. The site and event are run by the Veterans Association Food Bank Society (“we”, “us”), a registered Canadian charity. By using the site, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
Registering
- Registration information must be accurate and belong to you, or, for a rucker under 16, to the child you’re registering.
- Ruckers under 16 must be registered by a parent or guardian. By registering a child, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian, that you accept the event waiver on their behalf, and that you consent to the Privacy Policy for them. You’re responsible for the child’s registration and fundraising page.
- A Team registration covers up to 10 ruckers. The team captain manages the team’s page and roster.
- Your registration is complete only once your fee has been paid through Stripe. Spots are limited and are held for a short time while you complete checkout.
- If you have questions about changing or cancelling a registration, contact us before the event.
The event waiver
Rucking is a physical activity that carries a risk of injury. Every participant must accept the event waiver when registering, and participation is subject to that waiver. Please make sure you, or the child you’re registering, are fit to take part, and follow the instructions of event organizers on the day.
Donations
- Donations are made to the Veterans Association Food Bank Society to support veterans in need. They’re processed by Stripe in Canadian dollars.
- A donation made through a rucker’s or team’s page is credited to that page’s fundraising total.
- If you choose to give anonymously, your name won’t be shown publicly.
- For questions about a donation, contact us.
Donations collected in person
Ruckers can record cash or cheque donations they collected in person from their dashboard. These count toward a fundraising total only after an organizer confirms the money was received. Please record only donations you have actually collected and will hand in.
Your fundraising page and what you post
You’re responsible for the display name, photo, “why I’m rucking” text, team names and messages you add to the site. Don’t post anything that is offensive, misleading, or that you don’t have the right to share, and don’t include another person’s personal details without their permission. We may edit or remove content, or remove a fundraising page, if it breaks these terms.
By adding a photo or text to your public page, you allow us to show it on the site in connection with the event.
Your account
Keep access to your email account secure, since that’s how you sign in. Let us know if you think someone else has accessed your dashboard.
Using the site
Please don’t misuse the site: don’t try to access other people’s information or our admin area, interfere with how the site works, or submit false registrations or donations.
The site is provided as is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we can’t guarantee it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, we’re not liable for losses arising from your use of the site.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
